It is with great pleasure that the UCT Lung Institute hosts the second Lung Function & Exercise Physiology Symposium in collaboration with The University of California (UCLA) and Professor Chris Cooper [...download autobiography].
This interactive course is lectured by some of the leading authorities in lung physiology such as Prof Cooper and UCT’s own Professor Eric Bateman. The 2-day series of lectures and interactive sessions is focused on practical interactive small group demonstrations with time afforded to candidates interacting on a personal level with the course lecturers. Furthermore, sessions will be dedicated to the practical interpretation of lung physiology and exercise testing results.
The pertinent teaching goals of the symposium includes:
- Greater understanding of lung and exercise physiology
- Explanation & demonstration of principles of exercise physiology and testing
- Practical demonstration of lung physiology measurement including Spirometry, peak flow monitoring, whole body Plethysmography
- Interactive demonstrations of exercise testing using both cycle ergometer and treadmill
